About this book

Daniel Defoe earned the title 'The Father of the Novel' when he wrote "Robinson Crusoe" - the first example of the modern popular novel as we know it. He followed this success up with a huge number of other writings, which are included in this great anthology - covering novels, shorter fiction, poetry, travel writing, and his massive collection of non-fiction writing, including his seminal 'History of the Pyrates', which provides us with so much of our modern information on the subject of piracy.
