Shelley, Mary Wollstonecraft
Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley (1797-1851) was an English novelist, short story writer, and essayist, best known for authoring Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus (1818). Daughter of philosopher William Godwin and feminist Mary Wollstonecraft, she married poet Percy Bysshe Shelley. She wrote Frankenstein at age 18 during the famous summer of 1816 with Lord Byron.
